Vice President, Estimating (Civil Construction) - Summary
- Lead and manage the estimating department for large-scale heavy civil construction projects.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide strategic direction and leadership to the estimating team, promoting collaboration and high performance.
- Oversee preparation and submission of accurate, competitive estimates for complex heavy civil construction projects.
- Lead the bid process, including analysis of project plans, specifications, and contract requirements.
- Organize and manage joint venture partnerships and coordinate with project managers and operational teams.
- Present bids to internal and external stakeholders, demonstrating thorough understanding of project scope and requirements.
- Conduct comprehensive cost analyses, identifying risks and optimizing profitability while maintaining quality and safety.
- Mentor, train, and develop estimating staff, enhancing team skills and capabilities.
- Remain informed of industry trends, material costs, and technologies to ensure cutting-edge estimating practices.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers for successful project execution.
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and contractual requirements in all estimates and bids.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, site tours, and interviews as required.
- Manage subcontractor database and prequalification processes.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field required.
- 15+ years of preconstruction/estimating or operations experience in heavy civil construction projects, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
- Proven success in bidding and managing large, complex projects over $500M.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, materials, and pricing.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively with diverse teams.
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., OnScreen Takeoff, HCSS Heavy Bid), Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, AutoCAD 3D, and database management applications.
- Resourceful, diligent, and adaptable in dynamic work environments.
