Veterinary Emergency Veterinarian (DVM) - Summary
- Deliver high-quality emergency and critical care to animal patients in a fast-paced clinical setting.
- Engage in a collaborative environment with 3-4 doctors per shift, supported by experienced leadership and nursing teams.
- Participate in flexible shift scheduling, including both day and night rotations, to support continuous patient care.
- Utilize advanced diagnostics and surgical skills to manage urgent cases effectively.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct immediate triage and assessment of animal patients presenting with emergency conditions.
- Provide consultations and answer medical queries from clients over the phone as needed.
- Perform comprehensive diagnostic evaluations, including physical exams, imaging (ultrasounds, x-rays), bloodwork, and biopsies.
- Develop, implement, and communicate diagnostic and therapeutic plans tailored to each patient’s needs.
- Prepare and present detailed treatment estimates to clients, ensuring transparency and understanding.
- Maintain precise and up-to-date medical records for all cases managed.
- Perform both minor and major emergency surgical procedures when required.
- Educate clients on aftercare instructions and preventative health measures to promote recovery and ongoing wellness.
- Work collaboratively with a diverse team of veterinary professionals, contributing to a positive and supportive work culture.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD), or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
- At least 1 year of emergency or critical care experience preferred, though new graduates with a strong interest in emergency medicine are encouraged to apply.
- Willingness to treat exotic animals; prior experience with exotics is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Proficient in practice management software, electronic medical records (EMR), and collaboration tools.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate professionally both in person and over the phone.
- Demonstrated ability to perform, or willingness to learn, both minor and major emergency surgeries.
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as part of a rotating schedule.
