The Vascular Surgery Physician Assistant (PA-C) role offers an outstanding opportunity for a qualified healthcare professional to join a dynamic, high-volume vascular surgical team within a leading integrated health system. This position is designed for experienced Physician Assistants seeking an advanced, hands-on surgical environment where they can meaningfully contribute to comprehensive vascular care across both inpatient and outpatient settings. The Vascular Surgery Physician Assistant (PA-C) will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary vascular team, supporting multiple surgeons and delivering direct care through all phases of the surgical continuum.

As a Vascular Surgery Physician Assistant (PA-C), you will be primarily responsible for providing first-assist support in the operating room, with additional duties in inpatient management, consults, and outpatient follow-up to ensure seamless continuity of patient care. The role is centered in a flagship hospital, with periodic rotations at other affiliated hospitals to support the multi-site vascular program. This is an ideal position for those who excel in a fast-paced, team-driven environment and are committed to delivering the highest standard of patient care.

The clinical scope of the Vascular Surgery Physician Assistant (PA-C) encompasses a wide variety of complex and routine vascular procedures. As a vital member of the surgical team, you will assist in procedures including abdominal aortic aneurysm repairs (both open and endovascular), carotid endarterectomy, peripheral arterial bypass, and amputations, as well as the full spectrum of bread-and-butter vascular surgery cases. You will also provide comprehensive perioperative management, participate in hospital consultations, and perform rounds to monitor patient progress and support optimal outcomes.

In this role, the Vascular Surgery Physician Assistant (PA-C) will spend approximately 80% of their time in the operating room serving as first assist, and the remaining 20% will be dedicated to inpatient rounding, consults, and limited outpatient continuity care. The typical schedule aligns with Monday through Friday daytime hours, structured around the operating room block schedule, with integrated responsibilities for inpatient rounding and outpatient follow-ups during the workweek. Call duties are shared among the team, with weekday call on a rotational basis and weekend call providing coverage across multiple hospitals in the system. During call periods, responsibilities include emergent vascular consults, urgent inpatient management, and post-operative care.

Candidates for the Vascular Surgery Physician Assistant (PA-C) position must demonstrate a minimum of two years of direct surgical Physician Assistant experience, with strong preference for those with prior vascular surgery exposure. The ideal applicant will be confident working independently in high-acuity surgical environments, possess advanced skills as a first assist in complex vascular procedures, and demonstrate a deep understanding of both perioperative and postoperative vascular patient management. The ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with both surgical and support staff is essential.

Joining the vascular surgery team as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package, including competitive base salary commensurate with experience, paid time off, paid holidays (aligned with call schedule), and a CME allowance for continued professional development. Additional benefits include full support for state licensure, DEA certification, malpractice insurance, and the costs associated with hospital credentialing and onboarding. Employees also enjoy access to a robust benefits program featuring medical coverage, retirement plans, and a range of additional offerings provided by the health system.
