Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (NP/PA) - Summary
- Provide comprehensive urgent care services in an outpatient clinic setting
- Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and support staff to deliver high-quality patient care
- Utilize advanced clinical skills to assess, diagnose, and treat a wide range of acute and minor medical conditions
- Contribute to a patient-centered environment focused on health promotion and disease prevention
Duties & Responsibilities
- Evaluate and manage patients presenting with urgent and non-emergent medical issues
- Perform procedures such as suturing, incision and drainage (I/D), removal of foreign bodies, intravenous (IV) therapy, interpretation of X-rays, application of casts and splints, injections, and medication management
- Document patient encounters accurately and thoroughly in the electronic health record
- Order, interpret, and act on diagnostic tests as appropriate for patient care
- Develop and implement treatment plans based on current clinical guidelines
- Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment options, and preventive care strategies
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity and coordination of care
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to all clinical protocols and procedures
- Demonstrate commitment to patient safety, infection control, and ethical medical practice

Qualifications & Requirements
- Active and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) license in Maryland
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Board Certification (BC) as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
- Demonstrated experience in urgent care or emergency room (ER) settings
- Proficiency in clinical procedures such as suturing, I/D, IVs, X-rays, casting, splinting, injections, and medication management
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a healthcare team
- Availability for a commitment of six to twelve months
