Duties & Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage patients with trauma-related healthcare needs
- Provide clinical interventions, evaluate patient outcomes, and update care plans
- Support surgical procedures, with a minimum of 20% time as first assist in the operating room
- Perform comprehensive health histories, physical examinations, and problem-focused assessments
- Order, interpret, and act upon appropriate tests, procedures, and therapies in collaboration with medical staff
- Demonstrate clinical expertise in managing complex and at-risk trauma patients
- Document patient care thoroughly and in a timely manner in accordance with facility policies
- Facilitate referrals and transfers to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Recognize physical, developmental, and psychosocial needs of patients and families, providing effective interventions
- Respond rapidly and appropriately to emergency situations and changes in patient status
- Participate in on-call rotations as required by the practice
- Perform other duties as assigned to support trauma service operations

Qualifications & Requirements
- Current certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) through a recognized body
- Valid licensure with the South Dakota Board of Nursing
- Minimum of 1 year clinical experience in trauma surgery
