IDR is seeking a Trade Compliance Operative Specialist for a hybrid opportunity. This role involves ensuring import/export activities adhere to legal and regulatory standards within a global trade compliance environment. The position requires collaborating with internal departments and external partners to maintain compliance documentation and processes.
Position Overview for the Trade Compliance Operative Specialist:
- Act as a primary interface with external partners (e.g., Brokers, Third-party Suppliers) and internal departments (e.g., Sales, Procurement, R&D, Logistics, Regulatory, and Legal, among others)
- Provide control and instruction to service providers and brokers facilitating Customs and FDA clearance, ensuring compliant documentation is used by affiliated companies for imports
- Maintain master data for customs and foreign-trade, including but not limited to HS Codes, Country of Origin, Dual-Use/ECCN, and FDA codes, supporting accurate and efficient import and export processes
- Optimize documentation and processes, and assist management with audit processes and inquiries from CBP, FDA, Census, BIS, FCC, USDA, EPA, DOT, and other regulatory agencies
- Coordinate with internal and external departments, service providers, brokers and forwarders, for efficient and compliant export processing while ensuring accurate documentation and process optimization
Requirements for the Trade Compliance Operative Specialist:
- Bachelors degree in business, political science, public governance, law, engineering or a related field
- 3+ years of relevant experience in trade compliance or import/export operations
- Operational understanding of the ACE and SNAP-R government systems
- Applied knowledge of classifications, export controls, and licensing requirements
- Experience in FDA-regulated industries (e.g., medical devices, pharmaceuticals)
