Tool Crib Attendant - Summary

Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate inventory and item location systems for supplies, tooling, and fixtures.
- Reorder items in cost-efficient lot sizes, adhering to established budget protocols.
- Monitor and manage the machine shop tool budget.
- Oversee inside and outside tool sharpening services to ensure timely maintenance.
- Assist area leads or supervisors with kitting jobs to prepare for machine loading.
- Seek, document, and implement lean process improvement ideas within the department.
- Communicate effectively with vendors and all shop personnel to coordinate supplies and services.
- Cross-train other employees as backup for tool crib functions.
- Utilize knowledge of machine tools and familiarity with tool vending machines to support shop needs.

Qualifications & Requirements
- High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
- One to three years of related experience or training in a manufacturing or machine shop environment.
- Proficient in written and spoken English; able to comprehend instructions and communicate effectively.
- Ability to read safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Strong basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and the ability to compute rates and ratios.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and basic typing.
- Familiarity with ERP/inventory management systems and standard machine shop cutting tools.
- Knowledge of standard metals and materials used in a machine shop setting.
