Thoracic Surgeon (MD/DO) - Summary
- Provide high-level inpatient care and surgical interventions for thoracic cases
- Perform a broad range of thoracic procedures, including esophageal surgeries, VATS, chest surgeries, wedge resections, and more
- Participate in emergency consultations and follow-up care
- Work collaboratively with APPs and other healthcare professionals
- Utilize advanced EMR systems (Epic/Dragon) for patient documentation
Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage 24-hour call shift blocks for inpatient thoracic surgical services
- Attend scheduled orientation and proctoring sessions as required
- Perform full-scope thoracic surgeries, both robotic and open procedures
- Provide emergency operative consultations and follow-up visits for thoracic cases
- Supervise and collaborate with Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) as needed
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records using Epic/Dragon EMR
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and credentialing requirements

Qualifications & Requirements
- Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree required
- Board Certification in Thoracic Surgery is mandatory
- Active Michigan State Medical License or eligibility via IMLC (Interstate Medical Licensure Compact)
- Valid BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications
- Ability to obtain hospital credentialing within 30 days (temporary privileges available for clean files)
- Expertise in performing full-scope thoracic procedures, including esophageal, VATS, and chest surgeries
