In this role, the Test Engineer will be directly responsible for the planning, execution, and comprehensive reporting of environmental and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC/EMI) testing. Your expertise will be essential in supporting both external DoD programs and internal hardware production efforts. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a thorough understanding of military hardware testing standards, including environmental qualification tests such as temperature, vibration, humidity, shock, and altitude assessments.

Test Engineer - Summary- Lead planning, execution, and reporting of qualification and acceptance testing for DoD hardware systems
- Ensure compliance with MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461 test protocols
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and government stakeholders to deliver on program objectives
- Support hardware development programs and internal production efforts in an office, lab, and field environment
- Develop, author, and review Test Program Plan documents
- Lead test planning, procedure development, and execution of environmental and EMC/EMI tests
- Support Government Test Labs in HERO, HERP, and HERF testing
- Interface regularly with DoD program offices, test labs, and contractors
- Design and manage test schedules, resource allocation, and risk mitigation strategies
- Monitor instrumentation setups, test fixtures, and maintain configuration control
- Ensure traceability of tests to system requirements and contractual obligations
- Participate in engineering drawing reviews and compliance assessments
- Conduct Failure Analysis and Corrective Action Reporting (FRACAS)
- Lead Pre-Test and Post-Test Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs), and Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs)
- Develop deliverable data and document packages (CDRLs) for government submission
- Track requirement verification items satisfied by test

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or a closely related technical field
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in military hardware testing with direct application of MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461
- Strong understanding of environmental qualification testing, including temperature, vibration, humidity, shock, and altitude
- Expertise in EMI/EMC testing methodologies, including emissions and susceptibility testing
- Proficiency with test instrumentation (strain gages, accelerometers, thermocouples, EMC antennas, etc.) and data acquisition systems
- Understanding of uncertainty analysis in testing
- Experience with test labs, military acceptance criteria, and procurement regulations
- Proficiency in test documentation tools and standards
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills for team management and government briefings
- Ability to travel as required
- US Citizenship and successful background check
- Current or eligibility for DoD security clearance
- Experience supporting Army or Marine Corps platforms such as vehicles or communication systems
- Background in quality assurance, systems engineering, or production test preferred
- Demonstrates innovation, quick learning, and excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
- Experience leading engineering teams and providing regular updates to government customers
- Work performed in office, laboratory, and field test environments
- Position is expected to be performed only within Alabama
