Technical Writer – Accela Summary
- Serve as the primary technical writer for projects involving Accela and related enterprise platforms, supporting technology modernization and process improvement initiatives.
- Act as a communication bridge between technical teams, project management, stakeholders, and executive leadership.
- Create, coordinate, and distribute clear, high-quality written communications for internal, external, and executive audiences.
- Focus on branding, documentation, and the creation of leadership-ready materials that align with organizational standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Draft, edit, and prepare high-quality communications related to system changes, enhancements, releases, and modernization initiatives involving Accela and other platforms.
- Develop branded materials, including executive summaries, staff announcements, customer notifications, presentations, and concise initiative overviews.
- Support product owners and project managers by preparing communication drafts that clearly articulate the purpose, impact, and value of technology projects.
- Coordinate distribution of communications through approved platforms, such as Constant Contact and internal email channels.
- Maintain regular liaison with planning & development and centralized communications teams for major initiatives.
- Ensure consistency in messaging, terminology, tone, and formatting across all communication materials and projects.
- Translate technical project updates into leadership-ready summaries, highlighting outcomes, efficiencies, and operational improvements.
- Assist in developing and maintaining portfolio-level narratives to communicate cumulative value and progress of modernization efforts.
- Track engagement metrics for distributed communications and provide actionable feedback to project leadership.
- Support quality control and professional presentation standards for all deliverables.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, Public Administration, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in technical writing, product communications, marketing support, or a similar role.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical or operational information into clear, concise written materials for varied audiences.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint).
- Ability to pass a public safety background check, including criminal history and fingerprinting.
