Systems Engineer Position Overview
ARC Group is seeking a skilled and experienced Systems Engineer for a full-time contract position. This role is fully remote, operating on Eastern Time business hours. The Systems Engineer will play a vital role in the installation, configuration, administration, and maintenance of technology solutions, with a strong focus on vulnerability management and compliance standards. Key Responsibilities
- Install, monitor, test, configure, migrate, maintain, and troubleshoot assigned technology systems to ensure optimal performance and security.
- Manage system and application environments, ensuring ongoing operations meet enterprise standards for stability and compliance.
- Keep technologies up to date with current, stable, and compliant architecture and applications.
- Research, design, implement, and test technology solutions that align with business objectives.
- Proactively monitor and report on the performance and utilization of assigned technologies, identifying and resolving any issues.
- Troubleshoot both software and hardware failures, resolving alerts and performing necessary remediation activities.
- Manage problem tickets, escalations, and out-of-cycle requests from systems and software owners.
- Collect and present data for planning and reporting purposes within the organization.
- Assist in the development of tactical strategies, processes, and procedures related to systems and application administration.
- Assess migration and upgrade impacts, diagnose and resolve complex technology or application errors.
- Collaborate with IT and business partners on initiatives and work groups to ensure technology solutions support organizational goals.
- Provide input into infrastructure architecture designs and may participate in disaster recovery planning and exercises.
- Write programming or scripting as needed to support automation and process improvements.
- Ensure all work aligns with established architectural standards and blueprints for technology infrastructure.
- Perform on-call activities as required to support the environment and technologies.
Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with multiple technologies, their interfaces, and integrations.
- Experience operating in one or more environments highly integrated with an operating system.
- Proven success in implementing and managing technical solutions in large-scale system environments.
- Strong background working with vulnerability tools such as Eeye Retina, Tenable.SC, Tenable.io, Rapid 7, or ACAS.
- Understanding of compliance standards such as DISA STIGs or CIS Benchmarks.
- Proficiency in scripting languages, particularly REGEX or Python.
- Experience with Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Background in networking (CISCO) or Unix/Linux environments.
Required Experience and Education
- Three to five years of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of transferable experience in system design, implementation, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related field or comparable professional experience.
- Relevant certifications, such as Security+ or similar.
