As a Surgical Nurse Practitioner RNFA, you will play a critical role in perioperative and intraoperative care, directly impacting patient outcomes throughout the surgical process. Surgical Nurse Practitioner RNFA - Summary
- Full-time opportunity for experienced Surgical Nurse Practitioner RNFA professionals

- Key role in perioperative, intraoperative, and postoperative management of surgical patients

Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform first assistant duties in the operating room and clinic settings, demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of disease processes and holistic patient care, including patient positioning, preparation, draping, tissue manipulation, suturing, drain/tube insertion, wound closure, and the application of internal medical devices
- Conduct non-anesthesia minor surgical procedures autonomously, ensuring patient safety and adherence to clinical protocols
- Maintain technical proficiency for a wide range of surgical services such as colorectal (including robotic-assisted cases), breast, plastic (including microvascular), orthopedic, gynecologic (including robotic), head & neck, thoracic (including robotic), and urologic (including robotic) surgeries
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with surgeons, consulting medical providers, and other healthcare professionals, including hospitalists, intensivists, pain management specialists, respiratory therapists, physical/occupational therapists, and nursing staff
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat illnesses and injuries in clinics, pre-operative areas, inpatient wards, and internal medicine settings
- Order and interpret labs, radiographic studies, IV therapies, diets, and therapeutic interventions as required for comprehensive patient care
- Educate and counsel patients on preoperative and postoperative care, procedures, and health maintenance
- Perform comprehensive and problem-focused histories and physical examinations, including pre-operative and post-operative assessments, discharge documentation, and follow-up evaluations
- Maintain required clinical certifications and skill sets as mandated by state and national licensing authorities
- Prescribe Schedule II, III, IV, or V controlled substances and other prescription medications in compliance with federal and state laws
- Write and manage orders for pre-operative, intraoperative, postoperative, and follow-up care, ensuring timely documentation in clinical records
- Navigate clinical information systems proficiently, including documenting patient histories, reviewing imaging (PACS), and utilizing surgical information systems
- Strictly adhere to Universal Protocols and safety standards while functioning as a surgical assistant under the supervision of a physician
- Provide call coverage and onsite patient rounding as required by the Hospital Call Program

Qualifications & Requirements
- Current certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) credentials
- Demonstrated robotic surgical experience
- Preferred: Experience in hepatobiliary, transplant, surgical oncology, or microscopic surgical procedures
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment
- Proficient in clinical documentation and use of electronic health record systems
