Surgical ICU Nurse Practitioner (SICU NP) - Summary
- Full-time opportunity for an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner specializing in surgical intensive care.
- Work within a multidisciplinary surgical ICU team to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Engage in a strictly inpatient clinical environment, supporting a variety of surgical specialties including gastrointestinal, bariatric, colorectal, and neurocritical care cases.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Deliver direct and comprehensive care to patients in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU).
- Assess, diagnose, and manage complex and critical surgical patient cases in collaboration with the acute care surgery team.
- Perform advanced practice procedures appropriate to the SICU setting, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based care.
- Manage patient care from admission through discharge, coordinating with surgeons, physicians, nurses, and other allied health professionals.
- Document patient progress and clinical interventions accurately in electronic medical records.
- Support perioperative management for a wide range of surgical patients, including those recovering from gastrointestinal, bariatric, colorectal, and neurosurgical procedures.
- Participate in patient rounds, family meetings, and interdisciplinary care planning.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and adhere to hospital protocols and standards.
- Majority of shifts will be overnight to ensure continuous critical care coverage.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Active and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license (NP) with acute care certification and experience in surgical critical care settings.
- Current licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in California.
- Current and valid DEA registration.
- Demonstrated experience in a Surgical ICU (SICU) or similar critical care environment.
- Ability to work night shifts and a flexible 3:12s weekly schedule.
- Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and procedural skills relevant to surgical intensive care.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and documentation skills.
