Structural Engineer, PE Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Structural Engineer, PE for a permanent, full-time opportunity with an industry-recognized structural engineering firm. This hybrid role supports projects throughout the tri-county South Florida region, with a focus on Broward County and surrounding areas. As a Structural Engineer, PE, you will be entrusted with the responsibility for producing, signing, and sealing engineering projects, ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety are met on every assignment. The ideal candidate will play a key role in project management, technical execution, and mentoring of junior staff while maintaining compliance with local and national regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and review engineering calculations for the analysis and design of buildings, structural components, and related systems.
- Prepare and review project specifications, promoting adherence to companywide quality assurance standards.
- Coordinate with engineering technicians for data collection and the preparation of technical drawings and documents.
- Sign and seal engineering documents within your professional field of expertise, ensuring regulatory compliance and project integrity.
- Engage in collaborative peer reviews to uphold stringent quality assurance protocols across all projects.
- Maintain effective client correspondence, representation, and coordination throughout all project phases.
- Contribute to business development initiatives, helping to expand the firm’s client base and reputation.
- Conduct building and structure condition assessments, including forensic investigations as required.
- Perform construction observation and detailed documentation to support project completion and compliance.
- Compose and review comprehensive observation, field, and summary reports for internal and client use.
- Mentor and guide project engineers, offering support in their professional development and enhancement of engineering competencies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- Active Professional Engineering (PE) license in the state of Florida, or eligibility for licensure by comity from another state.
- Demonstrated experience in at least one of the following areas:
- Restoration or architectural engineering involving concrete, steel, wood, CMU, light gauge metal, waterproofing, finishes, strengthening, or authorized threshold inspection.
- Components and cladding engineering, including curtain wall, windows, doors, railings, and roofing.
- Construction engineering focused on shoring, bracing, temporary structures, or fall protection anchors.
- Industrial or marine structure engineering, such as seawalls, docks, piers, or water/wastewater plants.
- New design engineering for commercial, residential, or municipal projects, including threshold inspection.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Special/Threshold Inspector license or the ability to obtain one is highly desirable.
