In this full-time role, the Sterile Processing Technician (CRCST) is responsible for receiving, inspecting, decontaminating, and sterilizing reusable medical devices and surgical instruments in accordance with industry protocols and manufacturer instructions. You will ensure the correct assembly, labeling, packaging, and storage of these items, while also monitoring sterilization effectiveness and verifying instrument functionality. The position requires careful preparation of specialty trays and case carts, as well as the use of sound judgment to address routine, special, and emergency supply requests in various clinical settings.

Sterile Processing Technician (CRCST) - Summary
- Play a key role in the decontamination, sterilization, and preparation of surgical instruments and medical devices.
- Support the operational readiness of healthcare teams by ensuring the availability of sterile supplies.
- Contribute directly to patient safety and quality care for service members, veterans, and their families.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Receive, disassemble, and inspect reusable medical devices and surgical instruments for damage and cleanliness.
- Determine and apply the appropriate decontamination and sterilization methods, using techniques such as ultrasonic cleaning, washer disinfecting, and manual scrubbing.
- Operate and monitor cleaning and sterilizing equipment, including steam sterilizers, hydrogen peroxide (STERRAD, V-Pro), and ethylene oxide (EO) units.
- Label, assemble, and package medical devices and surgical sets for various clinical areas (Main Operating Room, Labor and Delivery, wards, clinics).
- Select proper wrapping or packaging materials for each instrument and device, ensuring compliance with instructions for use (IFU).
- Monitor sterilization cycles and effectiveness using chemical and biological indicators, Bowie Dick tests, and computer panels.
- Ensure the proper storage and inventory management of sterile supplies and equipment.
- Respond promptly to special and emergency requests for surgical trays and case carts.
- Complete and verify case cart requisition forms and maintain accurate supply records.
- Utilize knowledge of microbiology, aseptic principles, and medical terminology to uphold infection control standards.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Completion of a central sterile supply training course.
- Current certification as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST).
- Valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
- At least two years of continuous experience as a Sterile Processing Technician (CRCST) within the last four years.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
