The Sterile Processing Technician (CRCST) is responsible for the inspection, decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and storage of medical and surgical equipment. Utilizing established protocols and industry best practices, you will ensure that all devices are processed to meet strict regulatory and clinical requirements. Sterile Processing Technician (CRCST) - Summary
- Key role in maintaining cleanliness and sterility of medical instruments and devices.
- Ensures compliance with all instructions for use (IFU), safety standards, and industry regulations.
- Supports clinical departments by preparing, assembling, and distributing sterile supplies.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Receive, disassemble, and inspect reusable medical devices and surgical instruments for damage or wear.
- Determine and implement appropriate decontamination and sterilization procedures, including removal of biological contaminants using manual and automated equipment.
- Apply principles of microbiology, aseptic technique, and sterilization science to ensure effective processing.
- Operate and monitor sterilizers and related equipment, conducting routine tests to validate sterilization processes (e.g., Bowie Dick, spore challenge tests).
- Assemble specialty trays and case carts for various clinical areas, including Main Operating Room (MOR), Labor and Delivery (L&D), wards, and clinics.
- Utilize inventory sheets to ensure accurate assembly and packaging of instrument sets.
- Select proper packaging materials and sterilization methods based on IFU; processes may include steam, hydrogen peroxide, or ethylene oxide sterilization.
- Label, seal, and store sterilized items with appropriate indicators and documentation.
- Inspect all items post-sterilization for sterility assurance, packaging integrity, and proper storage in designated sterile areas.
- Fulfill case cart requisitions and respond efficiently to special or emergency supply requests from clinical teams.
- Maintain familiarity with medical and surgical terminology relevant to sterile processing operations.
- Apply sound judgment in resolving minor equipment issues and making decisions during urgent situations.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Completion of an accredited central sterile supply training course.
- Possession of current Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification.
- Valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
- Minimum of two continuous years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician (CRCST) within the last four years.
- Strong English language proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension to communicate effectively with all staff.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
