Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) - Summary
- Provide specialized nursing care in a Medical-Surgical Stepdown Unit for patients requiring frequent monitoring and advanced interventions.
- Serve as an integral member of the healthcare team, supporting patients transitioning from intensive care or those with acute medical needs.
- Utilize advanced clinical skills in pharmacology, cardiac monitoring, and patient assessment.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Administer and closely monitor high-alert titratable drips, including Cardizem (Diltiazem) and Heparin, ensuring patient safety and optimal therapeutic outcomes.
- Maintain proficiency in telemetry monitoring, including real-time rhythm interpretation and rapid response to any cardiac changes.
- Lead and execute nursing interventions for patients with acute cardiovascular and respiratory conditions, ensuring comprehensive and individualized care.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians and other healthcare professionals to modify and implement care plans based on continuous patient assessment and vital sign data.
- Document all care activities accurately and in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards.
- Advocate for patient needs and provide education to patients and their families regarding diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing care requirements.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- At least 2 years of experience in a stepdown, telemetry, or high-acuity medical-surgical environment is strongly preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications are required.
- Proficiency in managing cardiac drip titration and familiarity with telemetry monitoring systems.
- Strong clinical assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills.
