SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) - Summary
The SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) oversees the setup, migration, and ongoing maintenance of Microsoft SQL Server databases, particularly within Azure IaaS environments. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional who excels in fast-paced, evolving settings and can drive database initiatives from inception to completion. Duties & Responsibilities
- Establish new Microsoft SQL Server environments in Azure IaaS to support independent technology operations.
- Lead and execute database migration and copy activities in both non-production and production environments, partnering with application teams for successful cutovers.
- Rebuild and operationalize SQL Agent jobs, maintenance plans, and monitoring solutions to guarantee system stability from day one.
- Drive performance tuning, indexing strategies, and early-stage optimization to mitigate reliability and scalability issues.
- Collaborate effectively with internal IT teams, providing clear status updates, risk assessments, and actionable recommendations to stakeholders.
- Maintain rigorous documentation of configurations, processes, and migration activities for audit and reference purposes.
- Participate in troubleshooting and resolving database-related incidents and support requests.
- Adhere to best practices around security, backup, and disaster recovery planning for SQL Server environments.

Qualifications & Requirements
- At least 4 years of hands-on experience administering and engineering Microsoft SQL Server databases in production environments.
- Demonstrated expertise in deploying and supporting SQL Server on Azure IaaS (VM-based), with a deep understanding of configuration, storage, and operational requirements.
- Proven experience in planning and executing database migrations, including validation, dependency management, and post-migration support.
- Strong skills in performance tuning, indexing optimization, and data-driven troubleshooting techniques.
