Special Education Teacher (SPED) - Summary
- Provide specialized instruction and support to students with varying disabilities, ensuring all learners have access to a meaningful and equitable education.
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, support staff, and families to promote student achievement and well-being.
- Foster an inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation, independence, and social-emotional development.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Design and deliver differentiated instruction tailored to meet each student’s unique learning needs and abilities.
- Assess students’ academic performance, functional skills, and social-emotional growth using a variety of methods and tools.
- Write and maintain accurate, up-to-date IEPs, progress reports, and other required documentation.
- Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team discussions, and professional development opportunities.
- Implement positive behavioral interventions and support plans as needed to enhance student engagement and success.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, challenges, and strategies for support.
- Ensure compliance with all district, state, and federal special education laws and policies.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Active Pennsylvania teaching certification in Special Education (required).
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience with the development and management of IEPs preferred.
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary educational team.
