Special Education Teacher (SPED) - Summary

Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide direct and indirect instructional support to students in a positive, inclusive environment
- Design and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) to meet the unique needs of each student
- Utilize a variety of specialized instructional strategies and techniques to enhance sensory, perceptual-motor, language, cognitive, and memory skills
- Teach academic subjects using evidence-based methods such as phonetics, multi-sensory learning, and structured repetition to reinforce concepts
- Promote and model socially acceptable behaviors in alignment with students’ IEPs, employing positive behavior support systems
- Adapt and modify the general education curriculum using technology and differentiated instruction for students with disabilities
- Establish and maintain classroom management standards that foster a safe, productive, and welcoming learning environment
- Collaborate with parents and guardians to review student progress, set priorities, and support individualized educational needs
- Maintain detailed records and documentation in compliance with district, state, and federal requirements
- Participate in professional development and ongoing training opportunities to remain current with best practices in special education

Qualifications & Requirements
- Valid California state teaching credential in Special Education, or eligibility to obtain certification
