Software Engineer - Summary
The Software Engineer plays a key role in maintaining and supporting mission-critical software systems for enterprise operations. The primary responsibilities include supporting the Mobile Workforce Management system and providing backup for the Meter Data Management System. This position requires advanced knowledge of enterprise applications, databases, and scripting languages, ensuring the seamless operation and continuous improvement of these essential tools. The role also involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, troubleshooting technical issues, and executing customer-requested changes.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive support for the Mobile Workforce Management (MWM) system, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Serve as a backup resource for Meter Data Management System (MDMS) as needed, addressing technical and operational requirements.
- Monitor and manage system health, including patching, upgrading, and applying regular maintenance to critical applications.
- Support and troubleshoot batch runs, complex interfaces, and scheduled jobs to keep enterprise operations running smoothly.
- Implement customer-requested changes, enhancements, and write reports to meet business objectives.
- Evaluate and tune system performance, providing sizing estimates and capacity planning for efficient operation.
- Contribute to disaster recovery planning and execution to maintain system resilience and minimize downtime.
- Assist in training efforts to ensure end-users and team members are well-versed in system functionality and updates.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in customer support for critical enterprise systems or applications.
- Proven expertise (8+ years) with Oracle Database/PL/SQL, including system connections setup and management.
- Advanced skills (8+ years) in upgrading, maintaining, troubleshooting, and managing complex enterprise applications such as MWM or MDMS.
- Extensive experience (8+ years) with UNIX navigation, AIX/Linux (specifically Red Hat & SUSE), and shell scripting (e.g., KornShell/ksh).
- Solid programming background with 5+ years in Java, Groovy, JavaScript, and Python.
- Demonstrated ability to handle large data volumes, complex interfaces, job scheduling, and disaster recovery planning.
