Shipping and Receiving Clerk - Summary
As a Shipping and Receiving Clerk, you will oversee the receipt and dispatch of goods, maintain accurate inventory records, and ensure that all shipments meet quality and compliance standards. Your responsibilities will include verifying incoming and outgoing shipments, preparing merchandise for transport, and collaborating with both internal teams and external partners to resolve any discrepancies. The position requires physical tasks such as lifting heavy items and may involve operating a forklift, as well as the ability to use advanced PC applications and warehouse management systems. Your attention to detail and commitment to operational excellence will ensure the efficient flow of materials and timely order fulfillment.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary contact for all shipping and receiving operations, acting as a liaison between customers, suppliers, and internal management.
- Receive, unpack, and inspect goods against purchase orders or invoices, ensuring accuracy and quality of shipments.
- Maintain detailed records of received and shipped goods, including documenting any discrepancies or rejected items.
- Prepare goods for final shipment, including posting weights, shipping charges, and ensuring all documentation is complete.
- Stock and distribute materials in inventory and on manufacturing lines, supporting production and assembly operations as needed.
- Prepare kitting packages for assembly production and ensure parts are available for manufacturing schedules.
- Identify training needs within the receiving department and certify operators in compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Provide ongoing recommendations for process improvements to management and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor and report key process indicators related to receiving activities.
- Support receiving activities as required and perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by area supervisor.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a warehouse shipping and receiving environment; prior team lead experience is a plus.
- Proven ability to effectively communicate with managers, clients, customers, and team members both verbally and in writing.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Highly detail-oriented with a strong sense of follow-up and commitment to resolving outstanding actions.
- Advanced PC skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and email correspondence.
- Experience with ERP systems, preferably Oracle.
- Ability to read and understand visual aids, instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure.
- Physical capability to lift heavy items and operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts.
