As a Sheet Metal Superintendent, you will oversee projects from inception to completion, ensuring that all work is performed to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. You will work closely with project managers, foremen, and skilled tradespeople to deliver successful outcomes on projects ranging in value from $250,000 to $8,000,000. The role requires a combination of technical expertise, strong communication abilities, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Supervise the installation, maintenance, and repair of sheet metal systems on projects of varying complexity, from basic industrial installations to large-scale, multi-system undertakings.
- Administer and promote a safe and healthy work environment by following and implementing company safety programs and ensuring compliance with all safety and housekeeping regulations.
- Demonstrate proper work methods and provide on-the-job training and guidance to crew members as needed.
- Coordinate and ensure the availability of required plans, blueprints, materials, and tools, obtaining necessary stock from supply locations.
- Collaborate with supervisors to resolve project challenges and obtain timely information or decisions when issues arise.
- Maintain current knowledge of company policies, procedures, technical orders, and answer questions from team members regarding work processes and directives.
- Monitor workforce productivity, making certain that adequate work is assigned to keep all crew members engaged and project timelines on track.
- Inspect completed and in-progress work to ensure adherence to supervisor instructions, work sequences, methods, and deadlines.
- Lead project teams in following instructions and meeting critical project milestones and deadlines.
- Regularly report project status, progress, and any causes of work delays to superintendents and project managers.
- Provide expert guidance on overall work operations and problem-solving to supervisors as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years of verifiable experience in the sheet metal trade, with at least 3 years in a supervisory capacity overseeing complex projects.
- Comprehensive knowledge of piping blueprints, construction specifications, and applicable codes.
- Understanding of blueprints and work processes for other major crafts involved in commercial and industrial construction.
- Proficiency in all aspects of sheet metal and piping systems, including installation and troubleshooting.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients.
- Proven ability to supervise and coordinate multiple foremen and work crews on concurrent projects.
- Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to schedule, prioritize, and meet project deadlines.
- Preference for candidates local to San Antonio, TX, or the surrounding areas.
