Sheet Metal Superintendent Job Overview
The Sheet Metal Superintendent plays a pivotal leadership role within the construction and fabrication industry, overseeing the successful installation and completion of a wide range of sheet metal and piping projects. This full-time position in Dallas, TX, is vital for ensuring that projects ranging from small industrial installations to large, complex systems are completed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with industry standards. As a Sheet Metal Superintendent, you will be responsible for managing teams, maintaining high safety standards, and ensuring quality workmanship throughout each phase of the project.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate work on sheet metal and piping systems, from basic industrial installations to multi-system, large-scale projects.
- Administer company safety programs and foster a positive, safe, and healthy work environment for all team members.
- Demonstrate correct work methods and provide guidance to crew members as needed.
- Ensure that all necessary plans, blueprints, materials, and tools are available and properly allocated for each job.
- Collaborate with supervisors and project managers to address and resolve issues that arise during project execution.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of procedures, policies, written instructions, and technical directives, and share this information with team members.
- Ensure continuous productivity by assigning tasks and ensuring adequate workload for all crew members.
- Monitor work progress, evaluate completed tasks, and verify that project milestones and deadlines are achieved according to supervisor instructions.
- Lead teams in following supervisor instructions, maintaining timelines, and achieving project objectives.
- Promote adherence to all safety and housekeeping rules on site.
- Provide regular updates to superintendents and project managers regarding project status, progress, and any causes of delays.
- Serve as a resource for supervisors, offering insights and resolving operational challenges as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years of verifiable experience in the sheet metal trade and at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Comprehensive knowledge of piping blueprints, specifications, and codes, as well as expertise in interpreting blueprints for other major trades.
- Strong understanding of all aspects of sheet metal and piping systems.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with employees and clients.
- Proven ability to supervise multiple foremen and manage diverse project teams.
- Demonstrated skill in project scheduling and the ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Preference for candidates local to Dallas, TX, and surrounding areas.
