Senior Systems Engineer Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Systems Engineer to join a leading IT Solutions Firm in Dallas, TX. This full-time position is ideal for professionals who possess advanced engineering experience in IT infrastructure, system design, and technical project management. As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will consult, design, and implement advanced IT solutions while troubleshooting complex issues. You will also play a key role in mentoring junior team members and have the opportunity to grow towards CIO-level consultancy, gaining direct mentorship from experienced executive leadership.
Responsibilities- Manage and execute IT projects, ensuring timely and successful delivery in dynamic environments.
- Lead system design initiatives, developing solutions that align with client strategies and business objectives.
- Engage with technology vendors to maximize value and maintain up-to-date hardware and software solutions.
- Consult on the deployment, configuration, and support of server and network solutions for diverse clients.
- Develop client strategic plans that address both immediate and long-term IT needs, contributing to overall business growth and risk management.
- Diagnose and remediate advanced server and network issues, ensuring high availability and security for client systems.
- Produce thorough documentation and clear instructions for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Manage and prioritize multiple concurrent tasks effectively in a fast-paced setting.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support as needed.
- Continuously enhance technical skills and knowledge by staying informed on emerging technologies, industry trends, and evolving security threats.
- Extensive expertise with Active Directory and Windows Server technologies, including Windows Server, Exchange, RDS, SQL, and IIS.
- Hands-on experience with cloud technologies such as Azure, Office 365 (O365), AWS, Google Cloud, and G-Suite.
- Proven ability in diagnosing, repairing, and installing server and network systems.
- Advanced knowledge of virtualization platforms (VMWare, Nutanix) and clustering, as well as storage area networks (SANs).
- Comprehensive understanding of networking technologies, including TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switches, firewalls, DNS, VPN, and VoIP, with exposure to Cisco, Fortinet, and Sonicwall devices.
- Familiarity with security best practices and frameworks, particularly NIST controls and security policies.
- Mastery and certification in one or more of the following: Microsoft Servers, Fortinet, Cisco, VMWare, Nutanix, Windows Server, or Storage Networking.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems design, administration, installation, and troubleshooting.
- Preferred certifications include: MCSA Server or MCSE, Cisco, Fortinet, VMWare, and Nutanix.
