We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer (PE, Healthcare) for a full-time position based in Irvine, CA. As a Senior Electrical Engineer (PE, Healthcare), you will play a pivotal role in designing and managing electrical systems for healthcare facilities, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the electrical design process for healthcare and hospital building projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive solutions.
- Conduct field surveys to gather information and prepare thorough site assessment reports as part of the pre-design engineering phase.
- Develop electrical schematic designs, power single line diagrams, and riser diagrams, ensuring accuracy and compliance with codes.
- Perform electrical calculations such as arc flash, coordination, short circuit, voltage drop, and load flow analyses using ETAP/SKM software.
- Select appropriate lighting fixtures and power equipment, and design lighting and power circuiting to meet project specifications.
- Design and coordinate lighting control systems and fire alarm device layouts in accordance with International Fire Code and NFPA 72 standards.
- Develop fire alarm riser diagrams, perform calculations, and document sequence of operations for safety and functionality.
- Prepare enlarged plans, elevations, schedules, and detailed design documents using AutoCAD, Revit, and CAD/BIM standards.
- Ensure designs align with the California Electrical Code and Energy Standards, focusing on both medium voltage and low voltage systems.
- Coordinate design activities with mechanical, plumbing, telecom, civil, structural, and architectural teams for integrated project delivery.
- Edit project specifications and ensure all documentation is clear, accurate, and up-to-date.
- Demonstrate strong project management skills by overseeing multiple large-scale projects and providing mentorship to junior design engineers.
- Independently prepare proposals for clients and actively support business development with both new and existing clients.
- Oversee construction administration by reviewing and responding to RFIs, evaluating equipment submittals, and conducting punch walks with detailed punch list reporting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical engineering, with specific expertise in healthcare or hospital building projects.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, ETAP/SKM, and Revit is essential.
- Familiarity with HCAI requirements and California Electrical Code is necessary.
- Strong project management abilities, including the capacity to lead teams and manage complex projects from inception to completion.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and record-keeping skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, showing initiative, attention to detail, and analytical thinking.
