The School Psychologist (often referred to as School Psych or Certified School Psychologist) is a vital member of the educational team dedicated to supporting the academic, emotional, and social development of middle school students. This full-time position plays a key role in fostering a positive learning environment by conducting assessments, providing counseling, and collaborating with teachers, parents, and administrators to address students’ unique needs. School Psychologists apply their expertise in psychology and education to help students overcome barriers to learning and ensure equitable access to educational opportunities. Working in a supportive and dynamic educational setting, the School Psychologist is instrumental in identifying students who require additional support and developing strategies and interventions to help them thrive. This role is essential in helping middle school students navigate the challenges of adolescence and supporting their overall well-being.
School Psychologist - Summary
- Facilitates academic, emotional, and behavioral growth of students at the middle school level.
- Works collaboratively with educators, families, and support staff.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychological and educational evaluations for middle school students.
- Interpret assessment results and provide actionable recommendations to support student learning and emotional well-being.
- Consult and collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to develop and implement effective behavioral and academic interventions.
- Provide short-term individual and group counseling to students facing social, emotional, or academic challenges.
- Participate in the development, implementation, and review of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Section 504 plans.
- Offer crisis intervention and support as needed, maintaining a calm and resourceful presence during challenging situations.
- Facilitate professional development and training for school staff on topics such as mental health, behavior management, and trauma-informed practices.
- Maintain accurate, confidential records and ensure compliance with relevant laws and ethical standards.
- Promote positive school culture through data-driven decision-making and participation in school-wide initiatives.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Master’s degree or higher in School Psychology, Educational Psychology, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Valid and current School Psychologist certification or licensure as required by state regulations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of child and adolescent development, learning theories, and counseling techniques.
- Experience conducting psychological assessments and interpreting data.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and individuals with varying needs.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
