School Psychologist Position Overview
The School Psychologist plays a vital role in supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of students. This full-time position is available for the 2025-26 school year in Kelso, WA, and offers an opportunity to make a positive impact on student success and well-being. School Psychologists work collaboratively with educators, families, and community agencies to provide comprehensive psychological services and contribute to the development of effective educational environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and coordinate psychological assessments for students referred to special education, ensuring proper documentation and timely, accurate reporting in accordance with due process guidelines.
- Interpret assessment results for parents and teachers, translating findings into practical recommendations for learning and behavioral interventions.
- Provide staff development on topics such as assessment procedures, student behavior, child development, confidentiality, and due process requirements related to special education.
- Collaborate with staff and parents to review and apply assessment reports from external agencies or systems to support student needs.
- Actively participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) team meetings and contribute professional expertise to inform educational planning for students.
- Serve as a liaison between the school system and various social service, advocacy, or private agencies to coordinate support services as assigned.
- Offer guidance and advisement to staff on psychological and mental health concerns impacting students.
- Promote a positive school climate by supporting staff morale and aligning with the goals of the education system.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in School Psychology or a closely related field is required.
- Valid School Psychologist certification and eligibility for Washington ESA certification are mandatory for this role.
- Demonstrated proficiency in administering a variety of psychological and educational assessment tools and interpreting results.
- Strong ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, teachers, administrators, and external professionals.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey complex information clearly and collaboratively.
- Organizational skills and the ability to manage time efficiently to complete all assigned tasks and responsibilities.
