The School Nurse RN plays a vital role in promoting the health and well-being of students, faculty, and staff within educational environments. School Nurse RN - Summary- Provides direct nursing care and health services to students and staff within the school setting
- Promotes a healthy and safe environment that supports academic achievement
- Serves as a liaison between school personnel, families, community, and healthcare providers
- Implements health and wellness programs and policies as required by state and federal guidelines
- Assess, evaluate, and treat students and staff for injuries, illnesses, and other health concerns
- Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and school policy
- Maintain accurate, confidential health records in compliance with HIPAA and FERPA
- Develop and implement individualized health care plans for students with chronic conditions
- Monitor immunization compliance and communicate requirements to students and families
- Provide first aid and emergency care as needed, including CPR and AED administration
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and administrative staff to address health-related issues impacting student learning
- Educate students and staff about healthy habits, disease prevention, and public health concerns
- Participate in the development and execution of emergency preparedness plans
- Refer students and families to community health resources as appropriate

- Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program
- Current CPR and First Aid certification
- Experience in pediatric, community, or school nursing preferred
- Strong assessment, triage, and clinical decision-making skills
- Proficiency with electronic health records and documentation
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, families, and staff of diverse backgrounds
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations pertaining to student health and safety
