School Nurse RN - Summary
- Provides direct nursing care and health services to students and staff within the educational environment

Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive health assessments and screenings for students and staff
- Administer first aid, emergency care, and routine medical interventions as needed
- Manage and dispense prescription and non-prescription medications in accordance with physician orders and parental consent
- Develop and update individualized health care plans for students with chronic conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, severe allergies, epilepsy)
- Monitor immunization records and ensure compliance with state and local health regulations
- Identify contagious illnesses and implement protocols to prevent the spread of disease within the school
- Provide health education to students, staff, and families on topics such as nutrition, hygiene, mental health, and wellness
- Serve as a resource for staff on health matters, including emergency preparedness and response
- Document all health care provided, maintain confidential health records, and prepare reports as required
- Participate in developing school-wide health and safety policies and procedures
- Support students with special needs to ensure equitable access to educational opportunities
- Communicate effectively and compassionately with parents or guardians regarding student health issues

Qualifications & Requirements
- Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing)
- Experience in pediatric, adolescent, or school nursing preferred
- Knowledge of state and federal health regulations applicable to school settings
- Certification in CPR and First Aid required; additional certifications (such as School Nurse Certification) are a plus
- Excellent communication, assessment, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
