School Nurse RN - Summary- Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in school-based healthcare.
- Responsible for the assessment, treatment, and management of student health needs.
- Works collaboratively with educators and staff to promote student wellness.
- Acts as a liaison between the school, families, and community healthcare providers.
- Provide direct nursing care to students and staff, including first aid, medication administration, and management of chronic conditions such as asthma, diabetes, and allergies.
- Conduct health screenings (vision, hearing, scoliosis, and other mandated screenings) and maintain accurate health records for all students.
- Develop and implement individualized healthcare plans (IHPs) for students with special medical needs.
- Respond to health emergencies, assess injuries or illnesses, and coordinate care with emergency medical services as needed.
- Serve as a health resource for students, staff, and families, providing education on wellness, disease prevention, and healthy lifestyle choices.
- Monitor and control the spread of communicable diseases within the school community, ensuring compliance with public health guidelines.
- Assist in the development and implementation of school health policies and protocols.
- Maintain confidentiality of student health information in accordance with federal and state regulations.
- Document all nursing activities, interventions, and outcomes in student health records accurately and promptly.
- Participate in school safety and emergency preparedness initiatives.

- Current, valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum of an associate's degree in nursing; bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certification required; additional certifications (such as Pediatric Advanced Life Support) are a plus.
- Prior experience in pediatric or school nursing preferred but not required.
