The School Nurse RN plays a vital role in supporting the health and wellness of students by delivering direct nursing care, promoting a healthy school environment, and collaborating closely with educators and families. School Nurse RN - Summary

Duties & Responsibilities
- Deliver one-on-one direct nursing care to a designated student, including the administration of medications and treatments as prescribed by the student’s healthcare provider.
- Monitor and assess the student’s ongoing medical condition and respond proactively to any changes in health status.
- Develop, implement, and update individualized healthcare plans (IHP) in coordination with the student’s medical team, family, and educators.
- Provide emergency medical care and first aid in accordance with established protocols.
- Maintain confidential and accurate health records in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Educate and counsel the student and their family about health management strategies and safety procedures.
- Act as a liaison between healthcare providers, families, and school staff to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment for the student and foster healthy habits and self-management skills.
- Participate in IEP (Individualized Education Program) or related team meetings as an advocate for the student’s health needs.
- Stay current on best practices and continuing education in school nursing and pediatric care.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- CPR and first aid certification required; pediatric or school nursing certifications preferred.
- Previous experience in pediatric, school, or community health nursing is highly desirable.
- Strong assessment, clinical, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to interact with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with all relevant privacy laws and regulations.
