BlueCloud Staffing is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide individualized nursing care and support for an elementary-aged student as a School Nurse. This opportunity includes engagement during the Extended School Year (ESY) program with the possibility for continued employment through the following academic year. The School Nurse (LPN) position centers on providing direct, 1:1 nursing care tailored to the needs of a student with complex medical requirements. The student requires support with diabetes management, autism spectrum needs, and seizure monitoring, both during school hours and while in transportation to and from school. The LPN will work closely with school staff, family members, and healthcare professionals to ensure the student's safety, health, and well-being are prioritized at all times.
This role involves accompanying the student on the school bus each day, ensuring a safe and supportive environment from the moment the student leaves home until they return. Paid transportation time is included, recognizing the importance of continuous care and supervision. This is an excellent opportunity for a Licensed Practical Nurse interested in pediatric care, school nursing, or supporting students with special needs in an educational setting.
The ESY schedule runs from June 15, 2026, to July 30, 2026, with approximately five hours of work each day from Monday through Thursday. Typical daily hours include a bus pickup at 8:15 AM and a drop-off at 1:15 PM. If the initial assignment proves to be a good fit for both the LPN and the student, there is potential for the role to extend into the next academic year, transitioning to a full-time schedule of 7.5 hours per day, Monday through Friday, including paid transportation time. Bus pickups and drop-offs for the regular school year are approximately 7:35 AM and 3:10 PM, respectively.
The primary responsibilities for the School Nurse (LPN) include providing direct nursing care throughout the school day, monitoring diabetic care and other health-related needs, observing and responding appropriately to seizure activity, and supporting the student's safety during transportation and at school. Communication is key, as the nurse will need to interact effectively with school staff, family members, and healthcare providers. Accurate nursing documentation and proactive health monitoring are essential aspects of this role.
Candidates must hold an active Pennsylvania LPN license and have reliable transportation to the student's pickup location. Experience in pediatric nursing, school nursing, or working with students with special needs is highly preferred. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication and organizational skills, a commitment to the student's well-being, and the ability to provide consistent, compassionate care in a school setting.
