The Risk Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the risk management strategies for a leading contracting group, ensuring the company’s operations remain resilient and compliant with industry standards. As a Risk Manager, you will serve as a strategic business partner to executive leadership, providing insights and guidance to minimize liabilities and safeguard assets. This position is highly visible within the organization, involving collaboration with various internal teams and external advisors such as insurance brokers, third-party administrators, legal counsel, and surety partners. This opportunity is ideal for professionals experienced in risk assessment, insurance program management, and claims handling, looking to make a meaningful impact in a fast-paced contracting environment.

In this full-time Risk Manager role, you will be responsible for supervising the entire Risk Management Department, acting as a liaison between executive leadership, operational management, and third-party consultants. You will oversee the company’s commercial insurance and surety programs, lead the insurance placement process, manage claims, and support litigation and settlement activities. Your expertise will contribute directly to the company’s ability to identify, assess, and mitigate risks, ensuring the safety and continuity of operations.

Working as a Risk Manager provides a unique opportunity to influence the strategic direction of the organization by shaping risk management policies and practices. By collaborating with other departments such as Safety, Finance, and Accounting, you will help develop and implement comprehensive risk mitigation strategies. The position also involves conducting training for company leaders, managers, and staff on insurance coverage, claims management, and risk identification, fostering a culture of risk awareness and proactive management.

This position occasionally requires travel to meet with executive management, attend branch locations, participate in mediations or hearings, and conduct essential training sessions. As a Risk Manager, you will also play a key role in evaluating and recommending improvements to existing insurance claim reserves, working closely with Finance and Accounting to ensure appropriate allocation of insurance costs across business units.
