As a Respiratory Therapist (RT), you will join a dedicated clinical team comprised of oncologists, cancer surgeons, Magnet®-designated nurses, genetic counselors, and supportive care professionals. As a Respiratory Therapist (RT), your role will require proficiency in delivering a wide range of respiratory therapies and managing advanced respiratory equipment. Key responsibilities include ventilator management, conducting EKGs, pulse oximetry, Holter monitor placement, pulmonary function testing, and supporting special procedures as directed by pulmonologists. You will be responsible for ensuring that respiratory care equipment is properly operated and maintained at all times, safeguarding patient safety and care quality.
Additionally, you will perform essential clerical tasks such as accurate chart data entry, input of department charges, document filing, and other administrative assignments as needed. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are vital for maintaining accurate patient records and supporting the smooth functioning of the respiratory therapy department.
To excel as a Respiratory Therapist (RT), you should be a graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy program and possess valid state licensure. National certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) is preferred, along with current BLS certification. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and a background in critical care or intensive care unit (ICU) settings are desirable attributes. Exceptional bedside manner, self-motivation, the ability to work independently, and basic proficiency in computer applications such as Excel and Word will contribute to your success in this role.
