The Registered Nurse – Special Needs Coordinator (RN, SNC) is a vital healthcare professional responsible for overseeing and managing the Exceptional Family Member Program-Medical (EFMP-M) in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) and Air Force (AF) policies. This full-time position requires clinical expertise in assessing and identifying special medical and educational needs among military families, while ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and data management standards. The RN, SNC acts as a liaison between military families, medical staff, installation personnel, and various support agencies to facilitate the provision of comprehensive care and services for those enrolled in the EFMP-M program.

This role is deeply collaborative and involves multi-disciplinary teamwork to ensure all active duty sponsors with family members requiring special medical or educational attention are appropriately identified, enrolled, and supported through ongoing clinical oversight and outreach. The Registered Nurse – Special Needs Coordinator (RN, SNC) also provides essential training and consultation to installation and medical staff to maintain high standards in program implementation and family support.

Working in this capacity, the RN, SNC engages in ongoing data management, maintains accurate clinical documentation, and upholds all standards of professional nursing practice within the military healthcare system. The position also involves coordination with the Integrated Delivery System (IDS), participation in case reviews, and collaboration with both base and civilian agencies to ensure families have access to necessary resources and referrals. Travel may be required to paired communities and other medical facilities, utilizing government-owned vehicles as needed.
