As a Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical, you will play a pivotal role in providing compassionate, patient-centered care to a diverse patient population. You will assess, plan, implement, and document nursing care in accordance with established clinical protocols and documentation standards. Our Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical team works closely with physicians, other nurses, and healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients undergoing medical and surgical treatments. You will utilize advanced clinical skills to address the unique needs of patients, from assessment and medication administration to emergency response and discharge planning. Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical Summary
- Deliver patient-centered, evidence-based care in a dynamic medical-surgical environment
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support optimal health outcomes for service members, veterans, and their families
- Participate in quality assurance, infection control, and risk management initiatives
- Engage in ongoing professional development and team-based care
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and document nursing care for diverse patient populations in accordance with clinical standards
- Serve as a patient advocate and educator, developing individualized care plans and instructional materials tailored to patient and family needs
- Communicate pertinent patient information to charge nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals as appropriate
- Administer medications and blood products safely, adhering to scope of practice and best practices for medication management
- Perform direct patient care procedures, including range of motion exercises, patient transport, hygiene care, and feeding
- Manage care for patients with advanced needs, including those at high risk for infection or requiring life support equipment
- Participate in discharge planning, care conferences, and multidisciplinary team meetings to address complex care needs
- Respond skillfully to emergencies, initiating life-saving measures and operating emergency equipment such as defibrillators and cardiac monitors
- Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and contribute to risk management and quality assurance processes
- Support team operations by participating in staff meetings, patient care conferences, and ongoing professional education
- Utilize workload knowledge to assist in staffing and resource allocation as needed
- May serve on committees and participate in research or data-gathering initiatives as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements
- Associate’s degree in nursing from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited program
- Active, unrestricted RN license in a U.S. state or territory
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Minimum of one year of experience in a medical-surgical nursing unit
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Physical ability to lift and move patients and equipment as needed

Other Relevant Information
- Work schedule may include a combination of 12-hour, 8-hour, and/or 4-hour shifts, including weekends
- May be required to lift up to 50 pounds independently, with additional lifting support as needed
