As a Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical (RN, Med Surg), you will play a vital role in ensuring safe, evidence-based nursing care to adult and geriatric patients. Your responsibilities will span patient assessment, treatment, ongoing monitoring, education, and thorough documentation of patient care activities. This role requires a high level of competency in clinical skills, emergency response, effective use of specialized medical equipment, and proficiency with electronic medical records, all in accordance with the standards of military treatment facilities and The Joint Commission.
The Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical (RN, Med Surg) collaborates with interdisciplinary healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive patient care. The position also emphasizes active participation in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives. In addition to delivering direct care, you may take on the responsibility of precepting new staff and supporting the ongoing professional development of your team. Adaptability is key, as the role may require floating to meet unit needs and engaging in readiness and customer service activities to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
With a focus on providing exceptional medical-surgical nursing care, you will maintain all required certifications and competencies. Your strong assessment and clinical care skills will be essential in recognizing patient needs, developing and implementing individualized care plans, and responding effectively to changes in patient condition. The ability to respond to emergencies, including life-threatening situations such as cardiac or respiratory arrest, hemorrhage, shock, or trauma, is critical to this role. You will participate in rapid response and Code Blue events as part of the emergency care team.
Technical proficiency is also a cornerstone of the Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical (RN, Med Surg) role. You will be expected to expertly administer medications, manage IV therapy and blood products, operate PCA pumps and epidural infusions, perform wound care, and utilize specialized medical equipment as needed. Communication and teamwork are paramount, as you will educate patients and families, collaborate with providers, and maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records. Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical (RN, Med Surg) - Summary- Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a medical-surgical setting

- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited school
- Current, active, unrestricted RN license or registration in the United States territory
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
- Minimum three years of full-time experience in acute care for adult patients within the last five years
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Demonstrates strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills
- Excels in emergency response and high-pressure situations
- Proficient in medication administration and technical nursing functions
- Effective communicator with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
