Duties & Responsibilities
- Process and manage patient referrals to specialists, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed accurately and submitted in a timely manner.
- Obtain prior authorizations for procedures and medications as required by insurance carriers and office protocols.
- Track the status of referrals and follow up with external offices to confirm appointments, receipt of visit notes, and test results.
- Maintain recall lists and proactively contact patients to schedule important follow-up visits, ensuring continuity of care.
- Collaborate with medical assistants, front desk personnel, and other staff to coordinate patient care activities efficiently.
- Cross-cover front desk duties as needed, including answering phones, scheduling appointments, and greeting patients.
- Utilize electronic medical records and practice management software, with a preference for experience using Athena.
- Maintain strict attention to detail when completing paperwork and data entry tasks, ensuring accuracy and compliance with office standards.
- Stay informed about changes in referral and authorization procedures and update office processes accordingly.
- Demonstrate excellent organizational and communication skills to ensure all team members are informed and up-to-date on patient needs.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a medical office setting, ideally as a medical assistant, receptionist, or biller.
