Public Works Project Manager - Summary
- Lead and manage all aspects of commercial construction projects for public works and agency clients.
- Oversee project lifecycle from planning to closeout, ensuring alignment with design, schedule, and client objectives.
- Drive quality, safety, and compliance across all project phases.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage, plan, and direct all activities associated with assigned construction projects, ensuring all goals are met according to design documents and schedules.
- Provide strong leadership, clear direction, and reliable support to project teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop and maintain CPM project schedules to track progress and uphold timelines.
- Oversee project budgets, including self-performed work, and monitor financial performance to meet objectives.
- Prepare and submit accurate owner billings and facilitate timely execution of change orders and schedule updates.
- Negotiate and communicate effectively with owners, public entities, and clients, maintaining strong relationships and providing regular updates on progress, scheduling, and budget performance.
- Develop thorough subcontract agreements, maintain regular communication with subcontractors, and coordinate their activities to meet project milestones.
- Implement quality assurance procedures and ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and field best practices.
- Participate in preconstruction phase activities including procurement, business development, marketing, and estimating.
- Support planning efforts and contribute to the successful acquisition of new projects.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years experience as a Project Manager with a Commercial General Contractor.
- Previous work as a Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, or Project Manager on public works or public agency construction projects.
- Proven experience managing construction schedules, budgets, and subcontractor coordination.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills with owners, subcontractors, and public entities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
- Preferred experience with construction management software such as Procore, Timberline, and P6 scheduling, or similar tools.
- Experience working on projects for clients such as school districts, universities, or other public agencies is highly valued.
- Project experience within sectors including Office, Education, Retail, Federal/Municipal, Hospitality/Casino, Sports & Recreation, Parking Structures, or Tenant Improvement/Renovations is a plus.
