The Psychiatrist, MD/DO plays a vital role within community health programs by providing expert psychiatric consultation and care in a hybrid/remote capacity. Psychiatrist, MD/DO - Summary
- Provide psychiatric consultation and direct care within a community health program.
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Collaborate with primary care providers and multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic patient care.
- Work in a hybrid/remote setting, offering flexibility and reach in patient engagement.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform and document thorough psychiatric assessments using a biopsychosocial approach.
- Offer consultative opinions to PCPs and provide brief consultations before returning patient care to PCPs.
- Develop, recommend, and monitor ongoing psychosocial or medical treatment plans.
- Prescribe medication and evaluate treatment results, adjusting plans as necessary for optimal patient outcomes.
- Interview patients, families, and relevant contacts; conduct mental status examinations and review medical histories.
- Initiate and interpret laboratory tests as needed, communicating results and recommendations to PCPs.
- Maintain an interdisciplinary approach by consulting with physicians, therapists, nurses, and other providers.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, standards, and legal regulations to guarantee safe care.
- Document symptoms, medications, treatment events, and complete notes and billing on the same day as visits.
- Engage in continuing education, attend professional events, and stay current with psychiatric advancements.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Completion of a psychiatric residency or combined family medicine/psychiatry residency accredited by ACGME.
- Board certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
- Valid state medical license (MD or DO), DEA registration, and MCSR certification.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in psychiatric practice.
- Preferred: Consultation liaison experience.
