As a Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN), you will play a vital role within a multidisciplinary healthcare team, providing comprehensive behavioral health assessments, formulating individualized treatment plans, administering psychiatric medications, and supporting crisis intervention efforts. Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) - Summary
- Deliver comprehensive behavioral health nursing care to military service members, veterans, and their families.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
- Uphold compliance with DoD and Joint Commission standards and best practices.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including physical, psychosocial, and family history evaluations.
- Develop and implement evidence-based, age-appropriate care plans, documenting interventions and outcomes in electronic health records.
- Administer psychiatric medications and monitor for therapeutic and adverse effects.
- Respond promptly to psychiatric emergencies, implement crisis interventions, and initiate lifesaving measures as needed.
- Participate in patient care conferences, interdisciplinary meetings, and quality assurance initiatives.
- Provide patient and family education tailored to individual learning needs, barriers, and cultural considerations.
- Maintain detailed, legible medical records and documentation in accordance with federal and facility standards.
- Serve as Lead Shift Nurse as assigned, coordinating patient flow and unit operations during shifts.
- Support therapeutic and educational groups, promote health and safety, and reinforce coping strategies for patients.
- Identify and intervene in psychiatric crises, withdrawal, or relapse, and communicate critical findings to supervising staff.
- Operate specialized equipment such as defibrillators, EKG machines, and cardiac monitors when appropriate.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Associate Degree in Nursing from an ACEN or CCNE accredited institution (Bachelor’s preferred).
- Current, active, unrestricted RN license or registration from a U.S. state or territory.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in a psychiatric or substance abuse treatment setting.
- Demonstrated proficiency in computerized medical records, word processing, and data entry.
- Strong communication skills; fluency in English (speaking, reading, writing).
- Basic knowledge of the Military Health Care System preferred.
- U.S. Citizenship required.

- Work environment may involve exposure to infectious diseases; adherence to appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols is required.
- Possible assignments to various care units within the nurse's scope of practice, including adult and adolescent inpatient psychiatric units and residential treatment facilities.
