As a Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN), you will play a critical role in conducting patient assessments, developing and implementing individualized treatment plans, administering medications, and providing crisis intervention. You will regularly collaborate with physicians, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible patient outcomes. Your expertise will be essential in delivering age-appropriate behavioral health support and education across the continuum of care, with a particular focus on child and adolescent psychiatric patients.

Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) - Summary

Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive initial and ongoing assessments of psychiatric patients, including physical and psychosocial evaluations
- Develop, document, and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient assessments and evidence-based nursing interventions
- Administer prescribed medications, monitor patient response, and assess for adverse reactions or medication side effects
- Provide crisis intervention services, including de-escalation and emergency care when necessary
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, care conferences, discharge planning, and staff briefings
- Maintain compliance with all DoD, Joint Commission, and organizational policies and standards
- Educate patients and families regarding psychiatric conditions, treatment plans, medications, and health promotion strategies
- Document all patient care activities accurately in electronic health records
- Facilitate and monitor patient care plans, ensuring communication among all care team members
- Identify and intervene in emotional or psychiatric crises, and provide appropriate referrals or escalation as needed
- Serve as a resource for staff by participating in quality assurance, performance improvement initiatives, and unit operations as assigned
- Manage infection control precautions and adhere to all safety protocols
- May be assigned Lead Shift Nurse responsibilities, coordinating unit operations and patient flow
- Support therapeutic groups and nursing education sessions within the scope of practice

Qualifications & Requirements
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an ACEN or CCNE accredited institution
- Active, unrestricted RN license in any U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Minimum of 3.5 years of nursing experience, including at least 2 years in psychiatric nursing
- Experience working with child and adolescent psychiatric patients is strongly preferred
- Proficiency in English language for effective communication
- Knowledge of the Military Health Care System is advantageous
- Competence in the use of electronic health records and basic computer applications
- U.S. Citizenship is required
