Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) - Summary
- Deliver comprehensive psychiatric nursing care, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation, to patients in a behavioral health setting.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Adhere to established clinical protocols and regulatory guidelines to ensure patient safety and quality of care.
- Work onsite in a structured healthcare environment with a consistent weekly schedule.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform thorough behavioral health nursing assessments, including patient history, to inform care planning and delivery across the continuum of care.
- Utilize the nursing process to identify patient problems, establish nursing diagnoses, and develop targeted care plans.
- Write and implement nursing orders designed to achieve established patient goals and monitor progress towards these outcomes.
- Recognize and respond to psychiatric emergencies, utilizing crisis intervention skills and knowledge of emergent psychiatric disorders to initiate appropriate measures.
- Gather and analyze bio-psychosocial data relevant to the patient's general health, substance use history, and family dynamics.
- Monitor for signs and symptoms of withdrawal, relapse, and other psychiatric complications, intervening as necessary.
- Demonstrate strong skills in behavioral health assessment, triage, evaluation, and disposition for complex psychiatric cases, ensuring the level of care matches the clinical diagnosis and needs.
- Provide patient and family education to support understanding of behavioral health conditions, treatment options, and recovery strategies.
- Contribute to a safe and therapeutic environment, adhering to infection prevention protocols and personal protective equipment requirements.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation of all patient care activities in compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a diploma, associate degree, or bachelor’s degree in nursing.
- Current, active, full, and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license or registration in a U.S. state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
- Minimum of three years of full-time experience within the last five years as a Registered Nurse in a behavioral health care setting.
- Demonstrated maintenance of skills as a Psychiatric Registered Nurse, verified through clinical skills checklist and manager review.
- Ability to work onsite during scheduled clinic hours without exceeding 40 hours per week.
