This position offers a rewarding opportunity to make a significant impact in the field of behavioral health nursing. As a key member of a multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate closely with physicians, psychiatrists, social workers, and care managers to deliver comprehensive care and support throughout each patient's treatment journey. The Psychiatric Nurse RN role is central to delivering high-quality nursing care within a team-focused environment and is instrumental in both day-to-day patient management and long-term treatment planning.
Within this role, you will utilize the Team Nursing model to serve as the primary clinical link between patients, medical staff, and support services. Your expertise in psychiatric nursing will be essential in assessing patient needs, developing individualized care plans, and ensuring that each patient receives compassionate, evidence-based interventions. The Psychiatric Nurse RN will actively engage in interdisciplinary team meetings, where your clinical insights and behavioral observations will help shape and refine each patient’s treatment plan. Your ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively will contribute to optimal patient outcomes and ongoing professional development in the behavioral health sector.
As a Psychiatric Nurse RN, you will play a key role in medication management, utilizing advanced systems such as Omnicell to ensure safe and accurate medication dispensing. Your technical proficiency in using the EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) system will be vital in maintaining thorough and up-to-date documentation, which is crucial for delivering coordinated care. The position also requires expertise in crisis intervention, where you will implement de-escalation techniques and stabilization protocols to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for both patients and staff. By partnering with social workers and care managers, you will help coordinate safe and effective discharge plans, supporting patients as they transition to the next phase of their recovery.
The ideal candidate for the Psychiatric Nurse RN position will have a minimum of two years of professional experience in a psychiatric or behavioral health setting, along with an active and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, as recognized by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC), is required. While IV certification is not necessary for this role, proven proficiency in both EPIC and Omnicell systems is essential. The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for psychiatric nursing, strong clinical assessment skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
