Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) - Summary

Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments, including evaluation of presenting problems, medical history, allergies, psycho-social factors, medications, and living arrangements.
- Examine and treat patients to ensure continuity of care and optimal health outcomes.
- Review and interpret abnormal laboratory values, planning appropriate treatment in collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Demonstrate expertise in providing age-appropriate care for diverse patient populations.
- Identify and address patient and family educational needs, prioritizing concerns and developing individualized teaching plans.
- Participate in a multidisciplinary approach to care, consulting with other providers and involving family members as appropriate.
- Follow approved clinical protocols and evaluate patient response to treatment recommendations.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
- Engage in continuing education and professional development to stay current with best practices in psychiatric care.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Active Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) certification.
- Current and unrestricted state licensure as a nurse practitioner.
- Experience in outpatient psychiatric care preferred, but not required.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in evidence-based psychiatric treatment modalities.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary clinical team.
- Excellent communication, assessment, and documentation skills.
