Project Manager (PMP) – Summary
- Lead and manage all aspects of commercial construction projects, with a primary focus on hospitality and hotel developments.
- Oversee projects from initial planning and design through to completion and handover.
- Collaborate with cross-functional project teams, clients, and stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Work on-site in San Diego, CA, ensuring direct involvement in the construction process and firsthand management of progress and quality.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervise and direct the complete project lifecycle, including design review, construction, and final sign-off.
- Manage labor and resources for assigned projects, monitor contractor performance, and coordinate site visits and inspections.
- Assess architectural and structural plans for feasibility, compliance, and quality.
- Negotiate contracts with subcontractors and vendors, and oversee their work throughout the project.
- Maintain transparent, proactive communication with stakeholders, providing regular updates and addressing concerns promptly.
- Monitor budgets, cost controls, and ensure all work is performed within approved financial parameters.
- Enforce compliance with building codes, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Identify project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and resolve onsite challenges swiftly.
- Conduct final site inspections and facilitate smooth handover upon project completion.
- Collaborate with interior designers and engineering teams, reviewing shop drawings and managing technical documentation.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of progressive project management experience in commercial construction, preferably with ground-up hotel projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction processes, methodologies, and safety regulations.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple large-scale commercial projects concurrently.
- Expertise in budget management, cost control, and financial forecasting.
- Proficiency in project management software (MS Project, Primavera P6, Procore) and Office 365 suite.
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, plans, and construction documents.
- Strong understanding of local building codes and industry best practices.
- Preferred: Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, California State Contractor’s License, or significant experience in hotel ground-up construction.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and advanced construction management software is a plus.
