Key Responsibilities
- Deliver on-site technical and administrative support for all construction activities, ensuring projects remain on schedule and within scope.
- Review and process Requests for Information (RFIs) and submittals promptly to maintain project momentum and accuracy.
- Track and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including logs and files, updated consistently for transparency and compliance.
- Update project plans with RFIs and supplemental instructions to ensure documentation reflects current project requirements.
- Assist the Construction Manager (CM) with estimating and processing change orders by reviewing contractor mark-ups, verifying calculations and scope, and preparing change order documentation.
- Offer technical support to the CM, aiding in the smooth operation of project management processes.
- Review design drawings to confirm compliance with all relevant project requirements.
- Examine certified payroll, fringe benefits, and hourly rate worksheets to ensure accuracy and adherence to contract terms.
- Manage the close-out and turnover process thoroughly to achieve seamless project handoff and completion.
- Oversee daily site operations, monitoring that all work is performed according to project specifications, timelines, and quality standards.
- Monitor contractor performance, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and established quality standards.
- Conduct regular on-site inspections to track progress, identify potential challenges, and recommend corrective actions as required.
- Facilitate site meetings among contractors, subcontractors, and project team members to address and resolve on-site concerns efficiently.
- Maintain detailed and accurate site logs, including daily reports, weather conditions, and contractor activities for documentation and reporting purposes.
- Support the enforcement of environmental and safety compliance specific to the project site.
- Provide real-time updates regarding the Construction Manager's on-site activities and any potential risks that may arise.
- Assist in managing the punch list process, coordinating with contractors to resolve outstanding items and ensure project closure meets all requirements.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Building Construction, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in the construction industry in a project engineer or comparable position.
- Experience in solar or photovoltaic (PV) projects is considered an advantage.
- Electrical experience is preferred but not required.
- Previous experience working for a general contractor is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and a professional attitude are essential for effective collaboration with diverse project teams.
- This is an on-site, in-person role requiring regular presence at the project location in San Diego, CA.
- Field experience managing contractors is preferred and will be highly regarded.
