Project Engineer - Summary
The Project Engineer supports the project manager in all phases of construction, ensuring technical and administrative requirements are met to achieve time, cost, and quality objectives. This role includes responsibilities in project procurement, planning, operations, and closeout, making it essential for candidates who are detail-oriented, organized, and collaborative. Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with project procurement, including quantity surveys, pricing alternates, and preparing bid packages.
- Develop and manage scopes of work, comparison sheets, contracts, and project budgets with the project manager.
- Negotiate subcontract and material purchases.
- Support project planning activities such as preparing and maintaining project schedules, updating cost systems, and managing logistics.
- Coordinate material handling, storage, and job site mobilization including trailers, utilities, and permits.
- Review project plans and specifications; assist with shop drawings, samples, and product data management.
- Set up and maintain logs for subcontractors and suppliers to track insurance certificates, contracts, payment applications, and material deliveries.
- Develop and ensure compliance with quality control plans.
- Participate in project coordination meetings, prepare meeting minutes, and track project progress.
- Manage change orders, including documentation, pricing, and administration.
- Administer subcontractor relationships, monitor progress, and manage back charges.
- Oversee procurement and expediting of materials and equipment, as well as inventory control.
- Coordinate drawing submissions, specification reviews, and document control processes.
- Resolve field questions with designers and consultants as needed.
- Support field operations and assist with project safety and quality control under the direction of the superintendent or project manager.
- Assist with project closeout activities, including punch lists, equipment removal, occupancy permits, warranty submissions, and as-built drawings.
- Maintain strong relationships with owners, architects, consultants, subcontractors, and public authorities.
- Liaise with building authorities and regulatory agencies throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
- 3–5 years of construction-related experience in a similar capacity.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Proven ability to present problems with optimal solutions and take initiative to secure timely resolutions.
- Must currently reside in the Colorado Springs metropolitan area to be considered for this position.
