Project Engineer Job Overview
The Project Engineer plays a key role within the construction management team, supporting the successful delivery of diverse projects in the commercial, multi-family residential, hospitality, and resort sectors. This full-time Project Engineer position is based in Colorado Springs, CO, and offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a collaborative and growth-oriented environment. The Project Engineer works closely with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure that all technical and administrative project requirements are met efficiently, safely, and in alignment with quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Assist the project manager in all phases of the construction management process, from project procurement and planning to operations and closeout.
- Conduct quantity surveys, support the pricing of alternates, and help prepare scopes of work and bid packages for subcontractors.
- Help develop and manage contract administration, budgets, and project schedules.
- Support negotiation and procurement of subcontractors and materials.
- Participate in project planning by assisting with schedule preparation and updates, material handling, logistics planning, and arrangement of utilities and permits.
- Assist in reviewing plans and specifications, managing shop drawings and submittals, and maintaining accurate logs for subcontractors and suppliers.
- Support quality control efforts, compliance with project requirements, and participation in coordination meetings by preparing minutes and tracking progress.
- Administer change management processes, including documentation, pricing, and implementation of changes.
- Coordinate subcontract administration, including defining scope, responding to inquiries, monitoring progress, and processing back charges.
- Ensure the procurement, expediting, and delivery of equipment and materials, and maintain inventory control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Assist with safety and quality protocols alongside the superintendent, and provide support for field operations as required.
- Contribute to project closeout activities, including punch list completion, removal of temporary facilities, submission of as-built drawings, and finalization of subcontracts.
- Maintain positive relationships with owners, architects, consultants, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities, ensuring effective communication and project coordination.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of construction-related experience in a similar capacity, ideally on commercial or multi-family projects.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Problem-solving orientation, with the capability to present issues clearly and propose optimal solutions in a timely manner.
