Project Engineer Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Project Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis in Denver, CO. As a Project Engineer, you will play a vital role in supporting the project management process for diverse construction projects, including multi-family residential, resort facilities, hospitality, and commercial properties. This position offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with project managers, clients, architects, consultants, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies to help deliver high-quality results.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive support to the Project Manager throughout all phases of the construction management process, ensuring projects meet time, cost, and quality objectives.
- Assist in project procurement activities such as conducting quantity surveys, preparing and developing scopes of work, bid packages, comparison sheets, and managing contract administration functions.
- Participate in the negotiation and development of subcontract agreements and material purchases.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of project budgets and schedules, including preparing updates and tracking progress.
- Coordinate logistics by arranging for utilities, mobilizing trailers, obtaining building permits, and planning material handling and storage requirements.
- Support project operations by reviewing plans, specifications, shop drawings, and product data, and ensuring that logs for subcontractors and suppliers are accurately maintained.
- Assist with quality control by developing and enforcing quality assurance plans, and participating in project coordination meetings with stakeholders.
- Manage change orders by preparing documentation, pricing, and facilitating all aspects of change administration.
- Oversee subcontract administration, including monitoring progress, processing back charges, and evaluating temporary facilities and inspections.
- Coordinate the delivery of materials and equipment, and maintain inventory control of resources on-site.
- Assist with document control, ensuring all drawings, submissions, and changes are properly tracked and communicated.
- Work closely with designers, consultants, and field teams to resolve questions and support field operations as needed.
- Support the superintendent in maintaining safety and quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.
- Facilitate project closeout by completing punch lists, removing temporary facilities, securing occupancy permits, and submitting required guarantees, warranties, and as-built drawings.
- Maintain strong professional relationships with owners, architects, consultants, subcontractors, and members of the public.
- Serve as a liaison with building authorities and regulatory agencies to ensure full compliance with all necessary regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 1 – 3 years of construction-related experience in a similar capacity is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong leadership skills, problem-solving abilities, and the drive to secure timely resolutions to project issues.
